Bose headphones and speakers removed from Apple Store

Earlier this year, Apple acquired Beats Electronics and thereby added a popular brand of headphones and speakers to its product lineup. As such, especially given the recent litigation between the two companies, it is unsurprising that Apple has followed through with its plans of removing all Bose headphones and speakers from Apple Stores.

According to 9to5Mac, Apple has pulled all Bose headphones and speakers from sale on both the online Apple Store and at several physical retail locations in the United States. The move comes just months after Bose filed a lawsuit against Apple-owned Beats Electronics claiming that it violated a patent related to noise-cancelling technologies.

While the lawsuit was eventually settled out of court with an agreement reached between Beats and Bose, the conflict has remained between the two competitors. It was only a matter of time before Bose products were pulled from Apple Stores, given that the Cupertino-based company wants to push its own Beats lineup as much as possible.

There is also the situation involving Bose having a sponsorship agreement with the NFL that prohibits players from wearing Beats headphones on camera.

“Because the NFL is sponsored in part by Bose, competing headphone brands including the popular Beats cannot be allowed on camera during NFL-related events. This has led to several NFL players being disciplined for wearing Beats headphones during NFL events including 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick being fined $10,000 for sporting Beats headphones during a press conference.”

At the bottom line, this comes down to Apple simply making shelf space to promote and sell its in-house Beats brand of headphones and speakers through the Apple Store.
